Fitrana

What is Fitrana (Zakat al-Fitr)

Fitrana (also known as Zakat al-Fitr) is a mandatory charitable giving that Muslims are required to pay at the end of Ramadan, before the Eid al-Fitr prayer. It is a small amount of money or food given to those in need, ensuring that they can also partake in the joy of Eid.

The purpose of Fitrana is to purify the fasts from any shortcomings and to provide for the less fortunate, allowing them to celebrate Eid without financial hardship. It is obligatory for every Muslim who has the means to do so, and the amount is usually based on the cost of staple food items, such as dates, barley, or wheat.

Paying Fitrana helps strengthen community bonds and ensures that no one is left behind during this blessed occasion.
